Porter Airlines expansion analysis reveals contrast in attitudes on traditional vs. social media

If you’re like me and you enjoy the convenience of flying right into downtown Toronto via Porter Airlines, no doubt you’ve been following the high-stakes sell job it has been conducting for both stakeholders and the public-at-large in Toronto regarding its planned expansion.

We’ve been watching it too. That’s why today we’re announcing the results of a media analysis recently completed on coverage of Porter Airlines’ expansion plans, both in the form of an infographic and a more detailed, long-form report (the former can be downloaded directly, the latter is available by contacting MediaMiser).

As you’ll see in the infographic, overall it seems the unveiling of Porter’s expansion plans was well executed by the regional airline, with coverage generated in traditional media very positive overall.  And while opposition on Twitter was much more vocal than in the traditional media, positive mentions on the social network marginally outnumbered negative comments.
