MediaMiser Executive Named to Algonquin Public Relations Advisory Committee
Ottawa - Chris Morrison, vice president of client services for MediaMiser Ltd. -
Canada's leading media analysis solutions provider - has been named to the Algonquin
College public relations advisory committee.
"Chris is a graduate of Algonquin's public relations program and has worked with us as
a part-time teacher," says Peter Larock, coordinator of the program. "He knows the
program well, and his knowledge of the public relations industry means he knows what
students need to be successful. Chris has become a leader in the public relations
community, and the growth of MediaMiser is solidifying his reputation across the
country."
Every program at Algonquin College has an advisory committee made up of professionals in
the community who work in the program area. The committee provides advice on trends in the
profession and feedback on curriculum.
"At MediaMiser we have a strong devotion to the community," says Morrison. "The Algonquin
College public relations program was instrumental in helping me to get where I am today.
Being part of the committee allows me to pass that opportunity on by helping to maintain
the program's high quality."
All three founders of MediaMiser are Algonquin College public relations graduates. The
company is a strong supporter of the program, taking students for work placement during
their coop terms, and providing part- and full-time employment for graduates.
"MediaMiser is one of the great success stories of the public relations program, says
Larock. "It makes us proud, and reflects well on the quality of the program, that the
people who built the company continue to look to us for resources to help it continue
to grow."
MediaMiser's future plans involve the creation of a bursary for public relations
students at the college involved in the research component of the curriculum.
"Research is key to the success of any public relations professional," says Morrison.
"Media monitoring and analysis is part of that research. Many organizations hire companies
to do that monitoring. But because of limited resources, too many organizations are
spending a lot of money on monitoring and not analyzing it. If you don't do anything with
the research, it becomes pointless. Our software analyzes that research quickly so
organizations can take action quickly."
To complement their software, MediaMiser offers turnkey media monitoring solutions, and
full media analysis reports.
MediaMiser Ltd. offers media analysis software and consulting services. Since its
creation in 2003, it has grown into Canada's leading provider of media analysis solutions,
and attracted a range of clients from Fortune 500 companies to non-profit organizations.
