MediaMiser staff members keep busy tweeting, following blogs, looking for cool apps, reading books, and checking in on the top videos. We'd like to share some of the resources we find interesting, helpful, and/or fun in these categories:

Ragan's PR Daily News Feed provides a great round up of stories covering all things PR. I also follow @PRDailyNews.
Not only is Michael Geist one of Canada's foremost experts on copyright, he also authors an insightful and incisive blog. (He's a MediaMiser board member too.)
After seeing Mitch Joel at a conference in Montreal, I started reading his blog, Six Pixels of Separation. I also highly recommend his book of the same name.
If you're devoted to making your writing skills even stronger, visit the Daily Writing blog. Sign up and you'll receive tips - daily - on grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, or spelling. Great articles too.
Follow @mediagazer for all the media and social media-related news you can handle.
For good PR advice, you can't go wrong with @MarkRaganCEO. He never fails me.
If you're interested in the changing face of the print media industry, Reflections of a Newsosaur (written by a former publisher) is intelligent, informative and fun to read.
Here's a great morning treat: a bite-sized and nutritious article served fresh each workday by the PR Breakfast Club.
Just how often do PR reps get to see their own stuff in the newspaper? Quite often if they're British and check out Churnalism.

I recommend Avinash Kaushik' s blog. It' s great for anyone who has tried to learn about web analytics but never made it (zzzzzz) past the first page.
I visit Mashable regularly and am never disappointed with the content. This tech blog also focuses on social media and business and appeals to people in all areas of communication. I also follow @mashable.
Slashdot.org is a must-visit if you like a site that bills itself as news for nerds and stuff that matters. For science news, check out PhysOrg.
A great find for those of us on the go, The Next Web is basically a one-stop-shop for the communicator. In a real hurry? Listen to "TNW's Daily Dose" - a five-minute summary the past 24 hours of tech news.
GigaOM is a great tech-focused hub with a user-friendly set-up designed to draw in the general public, not just the tech-savvy. It's easy to get to the content that interests you most.

I'm into local startups. You're into local startups. So let's read about local startups together on StartupOttawa.
Trying to figure out how to take that next step on the career ladder? Check out Ottawa-based Shaun Hopkins' blog for excellent advice, great information, and helpful tips for managers and employees alike.
I'm interested in organizational theory, so I regularly check orgtheory.net for helpful and interesting tidbits.
For Ottawa business news, check out @obj_news. (I used to be the editor around there, though, so maybe I'm a bit biased.)

If you're fascinated by the cosmos as I am, you'll probably enjoy APOD -- Astronomy Picture of the Day -- free from the iTunes store. You' ll also find it on the NASA webpage.
Interested in the next generation of potential NHLers? Hockey's future is a good place to start.
I've always been told that you go to bed wiser if you learn at least one thing a day. To make sure this happens, I check Learn Something Every Day and/or follow them @weareyoung.
Like doing little quizzes, on English vocabulary, geography, languages, art, and more? Check out Free Rice. For each correct answer, 10 grains of rice are donated to the UN World Food Programme.
I love Jim Byer's travel blog. This travel editor for the Toronto Star also shares his adventures on Twitter: @JimByersTravel
Boingboing is a great blog for random but interesting information on the offbeat.
If you need to set up a meeting in multiple time zones, try the World Clock Meeting Planner. Pretty handy when you're trying to set up a meeting in say B.C, Ontario and Ireland.
