Going somewhere? Check out our top ten travel websites and blogs
It’s official – school’s out for summer. And for most, that means it’s time to pack up and hit the road, rail or sky for some kind of summery travel adventure.
So we decided to jump on the summer travel bandwagon and give you our top ten travel news websites and blogs in our vast media intelligence database (by unique daily visitors), to either get you in the travelling mood or instill some inspiration.
The Lonely Planet website sits as the top of our database of travel news websites, with a 38 per cent of share of voice (percentage represents its share of audience reach out of all audience reach of all publications on the top-10 list). It was followed by Fodor’s at 14 per cent, and Travel Channel and Cruise Critic both with nine per cent of audience reach.
An interesting travel news website that also piqued our interest was Fido Friendly, a travel news website that caters to pet owners looking to take the whole family on vacation, rather than leave the furry ones behind.
At the top of the travel blogs heap is Gadling with 23 per cent of the unique daily visitors, followed closely by BoardingArea at 20 per cent, and Travelfish.org at 13 per cent.
At a respectable sixth place, and Canada’s only blog on the list, is Canada’s Adventure Couple with seven per cent of visitors. Not too shabby!
Happy travels! And even if you’re planning on staying closer to home this summer, at least you can dream about where you’d like to go.
**Only news websites and blogs with unique URLs were chosen in order to achieve an accurate percentage of unique daily visitors.
