The medals have been awarded and the athletes have arrived home, but the post-Sochi buzz is still fresh.

MediaMiser collected more than 4 million tweets on the Games to determine who were the most popular athletes (the top three were all American), which events got the most buzz, and which of the many spectacular venues were the most popular.

We also looked at how the timing of an athlete’s medal win can make all the difference between being a household name – or a bit of an afterthought.
